Drenched in the thunderstorm last night

Came out of Birmingham New Street yesterday evening at 6.30. Everybody was standing inside waiting. Heavy downpour. I thought "What the heck?" and just went out. By the time I reached home 2.2 miles later, it was like the monsoon: lightening and thunder, straining to keep the eyes open in the deluge, little torrents on the streets, puddles like pools, cars splashing more water.

It was great! Felt like a naughty child. I don't like the rain when cycling but after yesterday's heat it was so welcome.

Mrs was horrified when I appeared soaked to the skin "That was SO dangerous etc etc"
:D

...I love riding in the rain, although lightining does make me nervous...

I love the rain! I've ridden home in some fairly large deluges and it's always great fun! I think half the problem is most people have a big objection to getting wet :-)
It's also helpful for getting the "fair weather" cyclist's off the roads, allowing the proper men (and women, not to be sexist) a bit more room :-D

I think dewei sums it up quite well by saying it makes you feel like a naughty kid! The only bit I can think of that does bother me is the reduced handling that wet roads bring, and the horrid feeling of putting on not-quite-dry-but-very-cold cycling shorts for the homeward bound journey!

(god, that sounds so pompous of me) :?

Me too, thought I'd made it home in a sunny gap in the storm. Got bounced ten minutes out, the initial salt in the eye thing is a pain but I couldn't see out of the glasses anyway.
