Slightly off message, but I was surprised to read that Cav was preparing for the Olympics with some post-Tour crit races.

    I thought he was tired...

Cav does realise that he can't have Gerard Ciolek lead him out until the last lap of the pursuit?

Oh come on... trundling round a town square for 2 hours when the winner is already decided is a lot different to flogging himself for 7 hours in the Alps just to beat the time limit.

I DO like Wiggin's style when he says:

‘I wouldn’t be doing it if I didn’t think I could win gold in each one. For me the Olympics is three gold medals from seven races over five days,’

As to the pursuit, I am sure that Geraint will contest this..what is remarkable is that at one time the World Record was 4.20 - with Geraint now capable of 4.17

I am sure that the 'athletics' guys are envious of the cycling medal prospects.

I know...I know...I just imagined that British Cycling would be managing his movements/energy levels in the 2 weeks leading upto the Olympics. Belgium crits have been the downfall of many a tired post-tour rider (according to every drugs expose book I have read recently)

I presume they built an uphill finish onto the roof of the town hall to give him a bit of an advantage...

He really is having a golden set of July race results.
