Prepping a Ti frame?
Hi
recently acquired a titanium frame from eBay (used). I've only ever had steel or aluminium frames before so forgive me for asking a potentially dumb question:
Do you need to use any special kind of grease on the bottom bracket threads of a Ti frame, or just normal grease? (In my old steel frame I used white lithium grease or copper-based anti-seize grease).
...also what about the seatpost/frame interface - I have an aluminium seatpost - any special treatment required there?
Thanks

Loctite anti-seize 8065 - it comes in a dispenser stick and you can get it in Halfords - Copaslip without the mess!Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

On my VN Euros i just used ordinary grease on the BB, i'm sure Copaslip would be ok too.
Had probs with the seat post slipping down though, (both carbon and alloy) had to remove all grease, rough up the post and inside the seat tube and spray hairspray on the post :?
It stays put nowHe is not the messiah, he is a very naughty boy !!0 -
Titanium has more of a tendancy to gall than other metals. This particularly applies to ti-ti contact but also ti and other metals. Hence the recommendation of using coper anti-seize /ti prep.
I didn't build up my ti frame so don't know what the LBS used on the BB but I have been using lithium grease on the rack/bottle cage bolts (stainless bolts) and that has been fine so far. Carbon seatpost so no grease on that.0
