Shimano XT Rear Derailleur M771 Tuning

Hi there, I'm looking for the guide as to how you tune the rear derailler gears of the XT M771. I'm sick of bringing the bike to the bike shop to for a tune up and would love to learn how to do it myself. Any tips would be welcome.

If you know someone who is good at tuning up gears ask them to show you how. It's way more intuitive to seeing it being physically done (and ask lots of questions !!)

cable adjusters, they stick out just out of the gear changers with the cable running though them, turn them ccw (relation to the changer) to tighten the cable (if it wont shift into 1st from 2nd) and cw to loosen the cable tension so it will change down into 9th from 8th. just fiddle with them when a gear won't change or is making noise, you'll get the hang of it in no time.
