respray versus touch up

So: do I spend £100+ on a respray for the tatty 531, or just sand down the rusty bits and apply some paint (eg car touch up)? I know the latter is prolonging the inevitable expense, but it's also prolonging the life of the frame...

It's just a hill. Get over it.

Powder coat it? Will cost you about half of the price of a respray.

If you like the bike, then a respray is well worth it. The frame will look just like a brand new one.

If its a best bike - I'd do that. If its a hack - then touch up or powder coat.

Forgive my ignorance - powder coat?

An industrial process in which a powder covers the frame, the frame heated up in an oven, the powder turns to liquid and coats the bike. my local bike painter says it looks 'industrial' so doesn't use it but for an old tatty frame it's a cheaper option.
