Not absolutely sure if in the correct bit of the forum for this question but hey I´m on holiday.
Watching the TdF here in Menorca on German TV both me and mrs 46213 were struck by the different jerseys that CSC were wearing. taking out the yellow etc there were at least 2 (if not 3) different styles. can anyone explain why?
I´ll have to ead your replies when i get back to UK this Thursday.

TIA
2 minute grovels can sometimes be a lot longer..tho' shorter on a lighter bike :-)

Frank Schleck's jersey was in the colours of the national champion of Luxembourg, Andi's was the white jersey... I'd imagine a few of the other riders are also national champions of their home country, although I don't know off the top of my head.

At one point they had the yellow jersey and the white jersey (highest rider under 23(?) in the general classification). If a rider is the national road racing jersey for his country, then he is allowed to wear a jersey to represent that.

CSC had the Luxembourg national champion, and the New Zealand national champion in their team. So at some points of the race they had 5 different jerseys: normal CSC, yellow, white, New Zealand national champion and Luxembourg national champion.

To add to that Fabian Cancerella is the current world time trial champion, so during the time trials he wore a rainbow jersey which represents that.

    Sastre - Yellow
    Schleck Jr - White
    Arvesen - Norway Champion
    Sorenson - Danish Champ
    Schleck Snr - Luxembourg Champ

D'oh - Julian Dean is the New Zealand national champion and he rides for Garmin, not CSC. I was on the right track though, just got the wrong country

National Champions are permitted to wear their national colours in the Tour - Arvesen and Frank Schleck. Plus Cancellara as world champ got to wear fancy kit too.

EDIT - duh - read the thread before posting

The white jersey wasn't exactly very ditinguising though - covered in CSC/Saxo/Skoda/etc logos it wasn't a lot different to the normal (white) CSC-Saxo jersey.

But yes, it was amusing that when they lead onto the Champs for the first lap yesterday, they were all together but all looked like riders from half a dozen different teams.

Or they wouold have done, had we not seen their faces plastered all over the font of the race for the past three weeks - and got to recognise them pretty well!

Probably not very fashionable (or very French spirited) to support the strongest and most winning team, and not the tradtionally well-loved but just not very good underdogs, but I think CSC are excellent and deserved their team win as well as the White and Yellow jersey.
