I cycle regularly distances of up to 80 or so miles, and have never found the need to use Chamois Cream. Is there any advantge to using it? Can you use it on fabric inserts as well as chamois inserts? Should I give it a try?

If you don't need it.... but why not give it a try. A cheap alternative is lanolin, in a tube from your local Boots. Proper chamois creme has anti-bacterial properties, which can make it useful on hot summer days, especially. I wouldn't use it with just fabric shorts though...- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
