You'll have been on the road 45 mins or so by now, but, assuming you've hit 88.8 mph and gone back in time, good luck fella - make everyone feel old

    Bolllocks frankly.
Just climbed up cunting censored hill for the fourth time with the main group two laps to go, 4 guys had broken away and were 20 seconds ahead, planning on making the break this lap if my legs held out. Guy to my left goes down on a patch of gravel, next thing I know I am sliding along on my censored and its raining bikes. three other guys came down with me.
censored censored bollocks and censored :cry::cry:

Crashing's more hardcore than winning mate.

    There is always next time.
I suspect that the hill isn't really called cunting censored hill, I just decided to call it that after the third time climbing it.

Sorry to hear that you crashed out.
I have to ask, tho, did the helmet save your life?

er..... nope I wasn't wearing my censored helmet
My censored and hands suffered mostly.
It did shake me up, I bonked badly on a club run yesterday, although that was possibly due to not drinking enough when it was boiling hot

Bad luck gent - but remember, crashing is all part of the "learning experience" - even the pros do it on a regular basis. Better luck next time.

Ooh is the bike ok? First thing I checked when I crashed on the Etape! I was bleeding like a stuck pig but was far more concerned about the bike!

    Again, better luck next time.

Brake hood is a bit mashed and I need some new bar tape, but I think my bike should wear its scars with pride.

If it's carbon it presumably shattered into a thousand pieces, right?
  • boybikerboybiker Posts: 531
I would be a bit worried if a carbon bike broke since they make airplane wings out of the stuff.

Which break when the plane crashes.

At least you're mostly OK, and I'm not going to ask you to post any pics of your injuries on this occasion.
Yesterday was certainly a scorcher and dehydration is even worse than bonking. I'd suggest that you work a few pub stops into the ride.

Doing a race the day after you've bonked badly on a long club run probably isn't great prep for a race!
If it's more a training race, then just fit it into your schedule, otherwise try taking it easy the 3/4 days prior to the race to make sure your body is in tip top condition.

Actually I bonked on the club run the day after the race but I am having a couple of days of rest, which isnt easy given the fine weather we are having.

Yeah rest days tend to suck, don't worry, as soon as you start training again the weather will get really sh!t :)
Still, a few races left this season to get your teeth stuck into tho, then of course hill climbing in the early autumn, then cyclo cross season starts.....
