Clicking - Pedal?
Hello,
Has anyone else experienced a loud clicking sound when pedalling, I thought maybe it was the chain but I snapped it a couple of weeks ago (an unpleasant experience given it had only done 1500 miles) and now have a new chain, still clicking, its not linked to being in any gear it'll click at any time when pedalling apart from under strong pressure. So it'll be there when I'm on the flat but not uphill, its not a consistent click i.e. not with every revolution of the pedal but will be three or four times in a row and will then go again for 30 seconds.
Any thoughts on what this is I'm thinking its the crank or the bearings in the pedal (crank brothers), all the kit is only 18 months old though.
Suggestions welcome
Chris

Which CB? Servicing them is never a bad thing if you're mechanically minded, I'd certainly check for play in them, also might it be your cleat?0

If the bike/pedal is not that old it could be that the pedal has come slightly loose and just needs a good tightening. I had a similar problem and it went awayafter a dose of spanner.0

Had a similar noise for a couple of weeks then the non-drive crank arm came off. Looks like the bolts weren't on tight enough.
2 mins with a torque wrench and alls well...noise gone.0 -
Probably the cleat if it's not doing it under load.0

OK - thanks for those suggestions, I'l start with the cleat and then go from there.

Go round your bike and tighten everything up...
Cleats
Pedals
Chain Ring Bolts
would be the first place I'd start looking at, then seat post / saddle as well
I had this a while ago and took my pedals off cleaned the threads and re-greased them, and did the same to the chainrings and bolts and the click went away.0 -
oh yeah, chainring bolts can be a pain, just remember to use really good allen keys and grease them inside and out, then wipe the excess off once fitted. They are really easy to round off if ally.0

It will be the seat post / saddle, on the flat you have most weight on the saddle, less weight when climbing. He is not the messiah, he is a very naughty boy !!0
