they are actually shimano ultegra road cranks on the other halfs specialized dolce.

if Octalink yes 8mm.

urr dunno what year, and maybe splined like isis or octalink not really sure about road cranks. They have the self extracting allen key thingy i think.
Also nick, while talking about cranks and bottom brackets are the shimano hollowtech bb's with bearings outside of the frame a significant improvement over isis?

the Shimano HT2 are a big improvement over ant ISIS set-up. But over octalink......? Nothing wrong with the octalink bearings.
