Bianchi have been having bikes made in Taiwan for years, since they got bought out."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

And the relevance of a poll 'do you prefer Bianchi or Scott USA' is...?0
-
just wondering which one is more preferable between bianchi and scott...0
-
I've got a Scott CR1 and it's very good....whether it's better than a Bee-an-kee...I couldn't really comment'How can an opinion be bullsh1t?' High Fidelity0

Why don't you get the shop to let you try them both and decide for yourself?
Bianchi owners will say Bianchi. Scott owners will say Scott.
And yes Bianchi get most frames/forks made in Taiwan, same as almost every other manufacturer. It appears that Assembly/Finishing takes place in either Italy or Taiwan depending on the model.0 -
I have to say the scott bikes are lovely, and ride really well, I'd rather ride one, although the pista is gorgeous0
-
If it matters to you, Scott get their bikes made in Taiwan and China too.
It's probably easy to list who doesn't get their frames made there these days.0 -
FWIW Scott's bike division is based in Switzerland - the USA moniker is only to attract jingistic Americans in the mistaken belief they're buying a US product - all their frames AFAIK are made in Taiwan. Bianchi still have a Reparto Corse division where they make their high-end frames in Italy.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Scott was originally a US company but corporate HQ is now in Switzerland. Scott manufacturing is in Asia. Bianchi is also mostly Asia.
There is a very good page on this here from Kerry Roberts. He goes into great detail on a lot of brands, including Bianchi and Scott. One of the key points is regarding the "made in" sticker on your bike- from a US perspective (and I think the EU is similar) if over 60% of the value-add comes from (say) Italy, they can slap a "Made in Italy" sticker on it. So if your Bianchi frame costs Bianchi $200 from China but they paint, decal, assemble and box the bike in Italy and ultimately retail it for $4,000 it is "made in Italy."
There are still carbon bikes manufactured outside Asia- Trek does actually make all the Madones (excepting the 4.X) in the US and Time manufactures even it's "low end" stuff (although to me "low end" Time is an oxymoron) in France.0 -
Nothing wrong in manufacturing in China/Taiwan BTW, they are after all the experts0
-
Look at the quality of the frames they are producing...0
-
No, Look are made in France.0
-
-
Blorg- Look 555's are made in Asia. The rest of the line-up is still all French I believe.0

I think every De Rosa comes from their factory in Milan.0

There is a conspiracy theory that ALL bikes are made in Tiawan. At least that's the joke
here in the states. :? :?

"ALL bikes are made in Tiawan"
Only the expensive ones, surely?d.j.
"Cancel my subscription to the resurrection."0 -
Yes, Taiwan outsources to China for the cheaper ones0

things can get very blurred where you have frames tack welded in Aisa and then shipped to the EU and US for the finishing welding and then the rest of the treatments (heat, paint...)
Or you can have the fully welded frames shipped and then heat treated and.......
Or......."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

IMHO Bianchi carries none of the kudos that it did in the good old days, don't get me wrong - lovely bikes and all, but its just not the name it used to be.
All my bikes whatever the 'Name' apart from my Columbus Daccordi were made in the far east somewhere. I think we all expect it these days, unless of course you buy British hand built custom steel etcRegards

I think most frame, from Asia or Italy, has a good quality, don't you think ?0
-
any how the brand is no matter for me, the important is the work best while I'm cycling, since I've ever used an old cromoli frame without any problem for 120 km ride0
-
Even Colnago have its very cheapest alloy and carbon fames built in the Far East....and its new lightest ever carbon frame is too.I'd rather walk than use Shimano0
-
If the brand doesn't matter to you, why have you narrowed the choice down to two marques where you are paying more for the brand. And why are you called bianchi?0
