Hi

Needing some new degreaser and saw "W5 Car engine cleaner" on offer @ 99p in Lidl. Looks to do a similar job at about one-third the cost of bicycle degreaser. Could it do any harm does anyone think? My concerns are about in damaging the framework paint.

i wouldn't let it on my bike to be honest.

It could be pretty harsh stuff - even the pastics and rubbers on car engines are made to stand different operating conditions than a bike - it could be fine, it could seriously attack the alloy or carbon parts.

    It is probably very aggressive.

Try virosol - on ebay here:

It's like Park citrus degreased but at a fraction of the price. i use it in my parts washer and chain cleaning machine. It is quite aggressive itself so dilute 10/1 if just cleaning the bike and wash off thoroughly.
