Contrary to a previous newsflash, the crash victim Damiano Cunego is not back on his bike (yet). Apologies for the error.

I hereby nominate Damiano Cunego for the "most convincing impression of Gilberto Simoni at the Tour" 2008.

There's no way he's going to get back, is there? Surely he's going to abandon soon?

Cunego and three team-mates now 13:40 down on the peloton. It's over.

I know it's their role, but, if I was one of the 3 teammates I'd be mightily disappointed that my tour ended this way...

I'll be pretty impressed if he rides to the finish simnply to get eliminated. Although... From the point of view of his 3 gregarios, he bloody well better.

L'Equpe is reporting that French customs agents have stopped and searched the car of Johnny Schleck, father of Fränk and Andy. We will keep on top of this story and have more as soon as we can

I think he has to, otherwise he's eliminating 4 for the price of 1 and not even trying to get to the end.

cn.com reckon ~40 min will be the cut-off. Cunego is 21 min down on the leaders at the moment.

    From cyclingnews

    15:25 CEST 137.5km/59km to go
Burghardt's hair is long enough to pop out of the openings in his helmet and to flutter in the wind

Some form of bikini wax might be in order then?

Looks like Lance was right and Cunego wrong. He's not a tour GC rider afterall... Or maybe it's the drugfree tattoo that's holding him back.

I reckon if Lampre had used Cunego to protect Marzio Bruseghin for the last 3 years in GTs rather than the other way around they'd have a much better set of results.

What a snooze of a stage. Hats off to CSC for not trying to put Cadel under any pressure. Is this really the best they can do?

Hardly surprising after yesterday. Tomorrow will be a quiet day as well, so you'll have to wait for Saturday for a bit of excitement.

why are csc throwing this race away - an entire team against one guy and thats the best theyve got??!! Why are they not firing sclecks off the front to wear Evans down and then launching Sastre...??

So they can't shift Cadel on a HC climb and they're going to unseat him on a 3rd cat?

Yes, I can see the logic...

How funny was that? Barredo waited till Burgy tried to zip up his shirt and took off. What a jerk. LOL.
