10% off your new bike?

I have a voucher for a bike shop worth around £1000 to replace my stolen bike. However, I'm not sure i want to get another expensive bike as this is the second to be stolen in three years!

I am yet to check with the insurance company and bike shop to see if I can do this, but I am willing to buy a bike and sell it instantly. Meaning someone can get a brand new bike with 10% off. This means that I have the choice of buying a cheaper bike or a better second hand bike if I want to stay down the expensive route. If this is viable, please let me know if you're interested.
Thx

not wanting to piss on your chips here, but anyone can get at least 10% off a new bike with a bit of local haggling. easy.

No, not easy at all. A lot of manufacturers insist that their bikes are sold at RRP.

just as well you buy your bike from a local bike shop, not direct from the manufacturers then.

i have done it several times, and found it easy each time. at least 10% inc. trek, specialized, etc manufacturers who "don't like it". the margins are there for discussion.

any bike shop signed up for cyclescheme is giving away 10% of their profits for every bike sold thru that for a start. as I said, if you know how to approach it, 10% is easy.

Would that be price fixing ?? I thought there were laws against that :?
  • Its not exactly classed as a local bike shop. Its a voucher for one of the big retailers.. Not sure about any haggling that can be done there.
Well anyway, for anyone that was going to this retail chain (London, Leeds or Notts) to buy a £1000 bike and would like to get £100 off, the offer is still there!
Or infact, £100 off a bike costing anything over a grand..

these vouchers are often for bikes at full price only, not sale bikes. And the buyer would have no warranty.
