I just spoke to me bro and he said that as he was changing gear to go uphill the chain flipped off and dug in the rear sprocket jamming the wheel (that old story). He flipped right over and landed on his head and then skidded along on his hands.

He said it was quite spectacular, and yet the drivers who went past just laughed and pointed - only a little girl stopped to see if he was ok.  That makes me f***ing angry.

He's got a painful neck and loads of holes in his leg where the front sprocket dug in as he flipped, and he's limping. I said to him its lucky he's a kickboxer as the muscle has probably saved him from a more seriously damaged body (his neck is as thick as my thigh). I gave him the advice that he should go to A&E if he's still in pain tomorrow (esp the neck situation)

unfortunately, some people in this world are evil C***s and they just happened to be driving when your brother had the crash.

Hope your brother recovers soon. If the pain feels serious he should be checked by A&E or local doctor just to be safe.

I'm still angry about the drivers - just sent a letter to the local rag. I doubt it will get published though.

I've told him not to ride tomorrow as his neck will lock up, I can see it happening. Trouble is he wont go to A&E, I dont know if he needs it tbh, but he's had worse in the ring (Mua Tai I think they call it - a guy spread his nose across his face a few weeks back, bro just snapped it back in place  )

He's supposed to be on a flight this weekend, hope he's ok to travel. :?

Ouch sounds painful... Hope he was wearing a helmet.

I'm not expert, but usually he should be okay if he did not suffer from concussion, black out or suffer from headaches.

Only he really knows how bad it feels, and if he's suffered from lots of injuries before he should know how much his body can take and when he should and shouldn't be going to A&E.

I'm kinda the same as your bro, do lots of other sport and martial arts and have my fair share of ligment and tendon injuries, plus injuries from the contact sport. And usually I can work out when i'll need to see a doc.

So dont worry too much, if he says he's fine... he probably is.

Ahh you're prolly right. Yeah he was wearing a helmet, and remarkably its only got a little scratch in it.

Shouldn't he still be getting a new one? Just in case... as it may cause a weakness in the structure...

Stating the obvious, but he should replace the helmet.
'Twas Mulga Bill, from Eaglehawk, that caught the cycling craze....

I've just rechecked the helmet and there is no separation of the outerskin from the poly, no damage to the poly inside or the plastic parts around. Does he really need a new one? I honestly cant see nothing other than a tiny scratch.

Its making me think that the force must have been diffused by his forward motion and taken some of the real impact out of the way.

Hmmm.... I would still say just in case he should get a new one...

Better to be safe then sorry.

That aside... how much do you think this bike is worth?

LOL I'm rubbish with knowing about value. It has the old askium wheels on it though (or is that a result of the flash). I ride with askiums, great wheels, very light and fast and quite strong for the money.

Call me old fashioned but the idea of buying off ebay makes me shudder. I suppose as long as you could check everything over before parting with cash. :? :)
