Did my first 100k today and I'm well chuffed. :)

The weather was overcast and quite breezy and I hadn't planned to do the 100. However, once on the road, I just started to enjoy myself so much that I decided to keep going.

I realise that it may not be a big deal to most. However, I don't belong to a club or do group rides or anything like that so it's a bit of a milestone for me.

Now for the imperial 100 - some day!!

Well done. Why not aim for the Dunwich Dynamo on 4 July 2009 as your imperial 100

Like yourself , I don't do club runs etc and the only metric 100s I have done have been in preparation for the Dun Runs in 2007 and 2008

I did my first metric ton a couple of weeks ago.

The wife and I had only planned a 50-miler but we took a couple of wrong turns and ended up back at home on 58 miles.

I made the wife ride laps around the block to make up the missing 4 miles. She still hasn't forgiven me...

Well done fella. I did my first 100k for about 13 years last month, as training for my first ever 100 mile sportive the following week. I didn't find the 100 mile too much more of an effort, just needed more food and drink

    Thanks for the encouragement folks.

I have the bit between my teeth now so I will try for the 100m before the summer is over - I hope!!

if you can get out with a group of riders you can do 100 miles easy without even knowing it

  • I just thought I would update this thread as I was pleased to receive words of encouragement when I posted about my first 100K back in July.

I completed my first 100 miler today and managed to hold the same average speed that I achieved on the 100K. Needless to say I am pleased and just hoping that my legs are up to an easy spin tomorrow. I can now claim to be a 'real' cyclist, eh! :D
  • I have done the traditional Derby - Skegness ride, annually for the past 3 years. Lincolnshire...not all that flat at times! Listing below, of a 404 km Audax  You would need those hours of daylight. Funny how with the Audax's, the average age...always seems to be 52. We must be getting a bit "nesh"!?!?!

Officially, you're too late - the Autumn Equinox was a few days ago  !

I'm claiming a technical get out on that on the basis that Summer began approx 10 days ago. Where I live August and early Sept were 'borrowed' by Winter

Indeed, due to the weather I didn't think I would get to the 100m mark this year. I was well chuffed to make the milestone in 2008.
