digital slr problem

folks,
wee bit of advice needed.... I recently purchased a canon 350d dlsr from ebay for £140.... stupidly I didn't read the whole listing properly and it seems that it was listed as faulty.. my own stupidity.. it was in plain view. :-(
The camera doesn't seem to power on properly at all. When I take out the cf card the lcd display flashes weakly 'no cf card' and the drive buttons make things happen. But it just seems like not enough power is getting round the camera, the battery is fully charged and it causes the shutter to 'flick' when its inserted.
what do you reckon... send it for repair somewhere or sell it on and go for a different one?

Could send it to a Canon Service Centre - they will evaluate it and let you know the cost to fix...0

Sounds like it might be water damage.
Are the connectors for the battery (in camera) ok?
Might be worth taking it in to your local camera shop, see if they know of any common faults.
