hey all! :)

i have got a Scott Apect 45, the seat is a bit uncomfy on long bumpy rides ( llandegla) ( done height and level adjusments)

seem to get a sore/bruised coccyx, i know seats are a very personal item, the one with the aspect is the SCT-10 SL ( oem seat sort of, seems ok)

would say a Charge Spoon be better? i know its a bit of a minefield, any advice would be Appreciated!!

yeah like you say its a bit personal....but the charge spoon is cheap enoguh to try and if you don't like it then you ain't wasted loads of money...as a rule they're comfy.

other to consider is the SDG BelAir

Go to a bike shop and ask to sit on as many saddles as possible, that's how I discovered that WTB saddles seem best-shaped for my bum.

I have a Charge Spoon after my original seat was trashed during a crash. Great seat, great price, do give it a go.

I had same problem, the only seats i find comfy are ones with the scoop throught the middle!

Every body I know that has tried a WTB V (there are loads of them) has loved them. I've been riding them for years (currently use a Pure V) and love 'em. I noticed on my last trip to m LBS that they een have a set of demo WTB's for you to stick on your bike and test for real no jst sit on in the shop

The Spoon is a great seat, but it's all down to what feels right for you. I luv my tioga spyder yet most would be put off just by looking at it

Charge Spoon was recommended by one of the mags as the best budget seat, 9/10.

I had a 2007 Intake Volaire, it's like a great big sofa, extremely comfortable but cumbersome. I recently bought a Charge Spoon to replace it. Given the huge difference in padding, I've found it remarkably comfortable from the outset. So that's another recommendation.

Had that Scott seat on my Aspect 20 - changed to a Charge Spoon and lovin it.

Actually feels a lot harder, but flexes more so is comfier.

1 thing though, it still took a good couple of months for my butt to get used to sitting on a saddle and not hurting!

I originally had a WTB Rocket V on my bike and did`nt get on with it at all.Far too squishy and not supportive enough for me.Changed to a Fizik Gobi, which whilst a lot firmer was a lot better for me.
My friend has a very minimalist Specialized Toupe saddle on his bike which looks like an instrument of torture, yet which he swears by.He also tried and didn`t like the Gobi on my bike.
Proof, then that saddles are a very personal choice,so don`t let your buying be swayed by people opinions on a web forum,go and try one yourself.
Spesh BG saddles can be bought in various widths to suit, and some manufacturer`s saddles have a 30 day money back guarantee.

  • I changed from a budget spesh to a charge spoon. I can only describe the feeling after riding with as akin to the day after a hugely spicey curry, when you're sitting on the loo and are considering standing in the shower to "clean off" as even andrex ultra-soft is going to feel like sand paper :)

So... i've a charge spoon for sale, only used for two days, and as I love me spesh toupe on my roadie, I'm going to give the phenom a try as its supposed to be the mtb version of the same...
