sram rival crank removal ?
i have some play in my sram rival crank. i`ve been on the sram website and it says to undo 2 seperate nuts in the left hand crank one with 8mm allen key the other with 16mm allen key , then to take off crank arm - grease it all up and put it back together and repeat process to eliminate any play. my only problem is i can`t remove the crank arm .can anyone help? much appreciated if you can.

You should only need an 8mm allen key to get the crank off. The 8mm hole on the non-drive side crank should force both cranks off. Its like a built in crank extractor if that makes sense.0

put it all back together. make sure the self extractor collar (16mm allen key) is well fitted. now undo the crank bolt (8mm allen key) this will push on the self extracting collar removing the arm. then tap-out drive side arm and axle."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

many thanks. job done. the final tightening of the 8mm allen screw seemed to make all the difference.no more play. i`ve never really maintained my bikes as well as i should have but now i`ve got a quality look bike i`m making the effort to keep it spotless and to try and do as much self-maintenance as i can.
the thing i love about cyclists and this site is how helpful people are.keep it up !0
