The question is.. Do I get my dad to drive me 20 miles to the time trial tomorrow night and drive me back again or do i ride all the way there and back again.
If I get my dad to drive me I arrive fresh and ready to kick ass, if I ride I arrive hot and sweaty and its not a good look.
Ive got the time trial bug bad Iv're already been looking at the price of disk wheels
I''ll try not to punch anyone

Well, the pros warm up for like 45 minutes before a TT - maybe if you take your ride easy you'll have done a very thorough warm-up?

I would find that a bit too far to go prior to some competitive action.

I think it depends on the terrain. A very flat 20 mile pootle would be no problem. If there are hills, or you can't hold yourself back, perhaps not.

I'd do it, i used to be very cynical about warming up when i started rowing competatively, but after about a year I really saw the benefits to a decent warm up. I'm certain you'll see the same here.

You'll want to arrive having just broken a sweat, so really light on the way there, focus on cadence and smoothness, practice your tuck, do some bursts. Build up really smoothly, you'll be able to 20 twenty miles in an hour pretty comfortably so should be a nice warm-up and warm down...

or get him to drive you 15miles there and then you can cycle 5 miles there to warm up and 20 miles down to stretch out.

    Much better plan methinks

20 miles easy pace is just too long a 'warm-up' but probably wouldnt effect your perfomance too much. I think it's the riding back that might be the problem, especially if you really push it in the TT!

Yeah Ive decided to ride there, I was more concerned about the ride back again but I can always find someone to draft

Have you asked your dad if he'd like to watch? Then he can give you a lift home. Even better maybe you can convince him to take part as well (next time) and ride there and back together.

    Good luck and have fun.

I did 27'27 which is not too bad I don't think. It was quite hilly so Ive got a target to beat for next time.

Yep I took it easy riding there, used it as a warm up as people suggested. The only problem was waiting around to sign in for quite a long time. The fastest was something like 24'30 so I am sort of getting there

You cycle 20 miles to a TT, turn in a respectable time, cycle 20 miles home again and punch chavs! I'm impressed.
