Kids' road bike

Wonder if anybody has any experience with road bikes for young children - my son (8 next year) is keen to get on board. I saw a thread which was a couple of years out of date and wondered if anybody has anything new on this one. I've looked at Islabikes and they look good but was wondering if there were others out there
Thanks

Decathlon used to do a 24" bike that was very popular.
I have a Giant scr 3 w for my Son (XS) who has just turned 9, they also do the bike in XXS with the same 650c wheels the as the Isla luath.
See this picture - Isla Luath, Giant TCR Jnr, BH Bikes 2008 Team Junior and a Decathlon:

Personally I would choose the Isla Luath can't beat it for value, change the tyres and you have a cyclo-cross bike (my son borrowed one for a couple of races).
Hope this helps.______________________________________________
