How to tape a set of ITM wing bars?

Yello,
I got a set of the above given to me, and as I like the shape of them I'm gonna stick them on my bike. Having never had or seen a set of these type of bars on a bike before I was unsure whether or not you tape them up as you would do a normal set of bars.
I have currently only taped up to the logo on the top of the bars where they change shape from tube to flat, so when holding onto the horizontal part of the bars it's bare.
Is that right?

My Bianchi came with those fitted, and was taped up as you've done yours0

I have a similar set of bars - the Race X Lite Blade bars by Bontrager. I personally tape them up right to the "bend" that is close to the centre (stem).
It all depends on how you ride and how comfortable the bars are untaped. Some people like them bare and others prefer them taped up. I ride with my hands on the tops of the bars a lot, so like the extra padding that tape provides.
The best answer is to see what feels comfortable to you. If the bars are comfortable UNtaped on top - then great! You get to show more of the logo. If you find them uncomfortable untaped - then tape them up just like normal bars.
Lastly - I like having my bars taped as they can get VERY slippery when sweaty or wet. bar tape adds extra grip to hold onto.
There is no right or wrong answer.0 -
I use the same bars and have them fully taped - I tend to ride on the tops a lot and find them more comfortable that way...0

If I had wing bars - I'd prob tape as normal unless it was a roughened surface on the wings ? Slippy bars cant be good ?0

I also have a set & taped them pretty close to the bars...
I find they're not the most comfy flat-topped bars... the flats are located right at the middle of the bars... most people like to hold the bars at the extremeties. I reckon the FSA bar is better, the flats continue right up to where the bars curve forward.0 -
I have the same bars and tape them up to where the flat part is.
Apologies for a small hijack but can anyone recommend a cheap set of TT bars that fit these bars?Norfolk, who nicked all the hills?

Got ITM K-Sword and only tape drops leaving top bare. Like the look and feel. Helps on long climbs as well.
Only exception is that doing a long TT soon and will tape over for that just to allow me to rest forearms on flats to get a bit more aero.Martin S. Newbury RC0
