I've got a commencal meta 552 which I love but after going to inners with some DHing friends for an uplift day I'm looking at maybe investing in a DH or suitable freeride bike. So far I've looked at an Iron Horse Yakuza (£1450 from evans) and Cannondale Perp 3 (£1500 at LCB shop)
Any thoughts on other suitable bikes in this sort of price range or less and also, would I be right in thinking 08 bikes will be going on sale soon to make way for the 09s? Would I be best holding on for a month or so?
Your thoughts please!

doesn't look like the will be much of an '08 sale as '09 bikes will cost more, not sure about bikes for DH though.

Yeah, I've looked at these bikes a fare bit whilst doing the usual on line deliberating. It does look like a lot of bang for your buck but I might have to consider the cheaper models as this beauty is more than i can justify (and afford) to spend.

As for the prices going up the guy in the local shop just warned me of this as my girlfriend is also looking to get kitted out soon. (she's determined to go sub £500 but I keep showing her pink marins and trecks that she gets all girly over)
