Carbon forks and roof racks?
I want to take my bikes on holiday, so investigating the various roof mounted rack options. I've always preferred the racks that hold the front fork dropouts with the back wheel in a 'shoe' - more stable and no clamps to damage the frame.
However Thule don't recommend it for bikes with carbon forks. Never really understood why to be honest.
So, my 585 had 100% carbon forks, including the front dropouts. Do you think it will be okay?

Update: just been to the Thule shop and man there tells me that Thule do indeed now reccommend the carrier for use with carbon forks. Just checked and their website which confirms this. Whether this includes forks with carbon dropouts, I don't know. I'll give it a go.0

they do now recommend it yes - their website has been changed recently to say that they do support all forks including carbon ones - this is a recent change - like the last few months
I think they realised that they didn't have a product that people could buy with a carbon frame as people were reluctant to use the ones that clamp the downtube and they didnt' recommend the fork clamps!0 -
FWIW I have just bought an Atera Giro AF carrier which clamps around the downtube, but is well designed with a large contact area that is easy to control the amount of pressure on the tube. I will put a bit of packing "foam" around the tube to prevent the cables from chaffing whenI take my bike on longer journeys, biut so far its been fine (and up to 3 figure speeds.. )0
