squeaky shock absorber on Brompton

My Brompton has developed a loud and very irritating squeak from the rubber shock absorber (i think that is what it is called). I cannot cure it and think the rubber bit probably needs replacing. Anyone else had this, and if so, any cures? Thanks

    Take it off - give it a good clean - put it back on with a bit of grease between it and the frame.

    This worked for me. Mind you I think the rear hinge is now knacked and needs replacing so check it's not this ..
