Killed a V8 pedal - what do do/get

Bearing more or less died on me this morning on my right hand V8 pedal.

Not lasted long (about 10 months) but greasing has not worked.

Do I - strip it and try and replace the bearings?
Buy V12s or similar?

I seem to be wearing kit out very quickly now I'm going quicker and quicker - would V12s last a lot longer or are there alternatives? Must must be flat but light - I hate SPDs.

Wellgo MG1, 35 quid on the bay, after that then you are looking at easton flatboys IIRC then burgtec!

    Do those Wellgos last okay?
They seem pretty light - wouldn't mind shedding a bit of weight now I have slightly heavier tyres.

Yeah they last pretty well, I've run some of the cheap wellgoes without maintanence for 18months and no complaints yet. DMR are made by wellgo, so the quality is usually pretty top notch with them.

Seems the DMRs are pretty much £50 off teabay but the MG1s can be delivered for under £35 and are lighter. Think I'll grab a set. Cheers!

you can get replacement bearings etc for the v12s so should be able to for the v8s.

The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

v8 bearings are just loose ball, forget the size, 3/32 maybe. But if cones are knackered, bin time. V12 and mg1 use exactly the same cart bearing.

Going to head for my LBS, see if I can replace the bearings (just bought a new stereo so currently under a "buying stuff restriction period") - if not I might get some MG1s - usefully lighter than the V12s.

Ordered a set of Wellgo MG1s in black.

The lack of weight (380 grams) swung it for me!

You can get the V12s down to the same weight using titanium axles - that cost an extra ...

    £50!!

Non mag V12s are actually heavier than V8s - didn't know that until today.

That's back to just under the weight I bought it at (put on slightly heavier but much more robust tyres and a Hope QR seat post instead of the silly non QR one that comes as standard).

    This could get addictive

You should seriously try some Odyssey JC's, Trailmix or the OG version. Even though they're BMX pedals they feel so nice, plenty of grip and don't bend/break.

Arrived today (High on Bikes - very good ebayer!) - they are so damn light that it almost feels wrong!

    Testing them out tomorrow morning.
