White bib shorts?

I fancy some new Assos white shorts and matching jersey, to match my white bike

But after an altercation with some water bomb throwing chavs and their parents, when my manhood was mocked in my relatively un-revealing black shots, I am wondering if white shorts are a step too far

ANy advice?

    Yep.

    Something wrong with black?
I'm left handed, if that matters.

You have to be a tanned cycling God to get away with wearing while lycra shorts.

    So wrong.

If you have a black saddle - that usually leaves a nice mark on the shorts.

And if they are anything like the yellow bibs my mate bought - they go transparent in the wet. Handy if you really dont want anyone sitting on your wheel.

And only when riding in Southern Europe in guaranteed 30oC+ temperatures. The slightest hint of drizzle and you'll soon look like a pervert.

White kit is very Euro Pro but as has been said a little impractical. IME white kit quickly looks tired and old. If you have surplus time (for laundry) and money (for the shorter replacement cycle) on your hands and can carry off the Euro Pro look then go for your life...

gees, my girlfriend used to go nuts when i walked around the flat in my black bibs, I can't imagine what she'd do if I came out donning some white ones!! She's more adjusted now though, can tell the difference between Castellis and Assos now. I am rather pasty though, maybe if your tanned they'd be ok. Still i'd stick to black, or maybe try another one of the assos colours? Bit tough to get your hands on though..

Bad idea. I bought some Campagnolo ones, went for a spin in Richmond park only for my training buddy to tell me that he could see my arse through the material. Never worn them again.

I have some white Giordana ones, I think they look quite good, makes a change anyway. The backside is black, so your isn't on display so to speak, I wouldn't wear them if there was rain in the air though

Go for shorts with a black central section if at all possible. I don't like black shorts particularly either, but then I shave my legs and make sure they look tanned and only wear red or navy shorts (they go with my club kit).

If you really want white shorts, you might as well get them, cheap and ill fitting black shorts IMO can look a lot worse than some nice Assos white ones.
You live and learn. At any rate, you live

Our club switched to red shorts one year - to be trendy.

You could see our c*cks thru the material. Not great for cafe stops.

I have a pair of white bibs - World Champion Quickstep team shorts (for Paulo Bettini). Made by Vermarc. Can't see a thing through them (front or back) even when wet and sweaty.

Only drawback is KEEPING them white. Fell on the road last week and rolled around in the mud for a while before riding home. Now the arse is stained.

But plain white shorts (especially if they are "thin") is a big no-no.

Decent shorts, like Assos have a 'modesty' pad on the front which helps cover your manhood. Decent quality shorts have a double layer on the front in the light colours too. But if you haven't got tanned and shaved legs they just look wrong. Mind you there's nothing worse than a pair of washed-out coloured shorts stretched tight across skin and see-through.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Apologies, but I am surprised the Polish Cycling Team has not yet made an appearance in this thread.
