Anyone know if this was an official offer from the university lab or just someone using the lab facilities to make a bit of cash on the side - a not uncommon practice in colleges.'This week I 'ave been mostly been climbing like Basso - Shirley Basso.'0

Interesting.
This Losa character sounds like the new Dr Mabuse/Voet/Fuentes etc, in that his name seems central and will be linked to this batch of positives.
Bearing in mind he worked with Euskatel when Mayo rode with them, and of course May failed (without getting into that debate) a test while riding for SD, you can see the beginnings of a link.
Also of course Millar said that he was supplied by the good doctor Losa.* Be interesting to see what Dr Losa has been upto since he was suspending by Euskatel in 2004.
* If you were cynical you'd mention here that Millar made his comeback with, SD. I'm not quite that cynical, but I'll save someone who is having to type that.0 -
They send an e-mail to at least 10 teams including Gerolsteiner. Gerolsteiner forwarded this e-mail to WADA according to the german tv-station ARD.

If this is true I really want to know who the other teams are, but coming from a german source I don't trust this one yet"Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
The link Iain posted says Milram, CSC and Gerolsteiner also got the email.
I'm guessing the lab didn't bother emailing SD etc, no point spamming your existing clients is there?0 -

It's not actually illegal, what this laboratory offers, and I imagine there are many laboratories up and down the world currently with similar contracts, in view of the Olympic Games.
And it's probably small stuff compared to the pre-checking for gen manipulation which the Chinese are supposed to have engaged in. Or maybe tests for gen manipulation haven't been developed yet?0 -

Maynar was also the team doctor for LA-MSS, who had their offices raided by Portuguese police a month or two ago.
LA-MSS, btw, are still racing this week in the Vuelta a Madrid (along with about a dozen riders who were named in Operacion Puerto).0 -
I expect the UCI are very concerned.......
.....about the number of Crayfish sandwiches available at the buffet yesterday at HQ.0 -

Or, to look at it another way, Millar was apparently really unhappy with what was going on last year and the other day described the SD boss as a good bloke but said that someone was influencing him.0 -

Ah excellent, an ever expanding Iberian ring then.
Yeah I agree on the Millar thing, really just said it before someone else pointed it out. I can't remember now, but did any other teams express an interest in signing Millar when he made his comeback, or just SD? I suppose the argument could be that if Millar didn't like what was going on at SD last year, why didn't he speak out more than he did. Although then I suppose you get into the whole omerta thing, plus of course if you're leaving at the end of the season, it's only natural to keep your head down and get out of it.0
