In two places. Clearly in the seat area and caused by rubbing.

But should £80 bib shorts do this? After 4 rides?

Have you got a seat bag attached with velcro? If the shorts are catching on that they will 'bobble' however good they are. If this is the problem, consider changing the bag, or put some insulation tape over the exposed velcro.
I've got a pair of Contour Plus shorts which are now 4 years old and still going strong.

Nope. Nothing near at all. And none of my other shorts show the problem. Odd!

Nothing wrong with De Marchi. I've been using their bib shorts/longs for years without problems.

As I said above, mine have lasted very well. As far as I'm concerned, they are the next best shorts to Assos.

I always use Demarchi bib shorts only buying another pair of Contour plus just last week and i have found them to be good quailty and value for money. i also like the fit as other bibshorts i have tried in the past are too long in the leg length.

ALL bib-shorts will bobble if they touch velcro/rough stuff...even assos

    Is there a sliding scale?

    £100 Assos - bobble free

    £80 - De Marchi - some bobble

    £60 - Giordana - getting bobble hatty

£30 - DHB - more bobbles than bobbing apple night

£10 - Crappy lycra - bobble free as they're made of seals.

    ;)

Noticed the pad in mine had come unstitched this week and on closer inspection the lycra has been rubbed away along with the stitching. Not impressed as my other shorts Assos and nike haven't done this and I don't have a saddle that has stitching that rubs.. Recently got some Specialized RBX bibs which seem to be v.good

Well I thought they were until I noticed this am they were bobbling. I think it's the stitching on top of the saddle (Pro-Link Gel flow) on the inner thigh area. May apply a small amount of tape over the stitching to see if it makes a difference

Yeah, stitching on saddles is terrible for shorts. The pad in my Assos is only held by a single line of zig-zag stiching and my Flite gel that used to be on my MTB wore it off at each thigh. It gradually got longer until the pad was only held by about half the stitching. They are a little bobbly in that area too.

Sent them back and they replaced the pad with a new one and stitched it back in. For nothing.

Changed my saddle and it hasn't happened again.

I wouldn't want to tape over the stitching - that would still have an edge for the shorts to rub on.
I'm left handed, if that matters.
