The future of Campagnolo
Just wondering what direction they are heading now that they have dropped Xenon and Mirage at the bottom end and added Super Record at the top. Is this an admission that they can't compete with Shimano in the mass market? Are they positioning themselves as a luxury, aspirational brand? Will we now see even fewer Campag-equipped complete bikes in bike shops? Is this just a return to the Campag of old?
In short, is the PC vs Mac comparison about to become even more apt?

I'm only concerned with looking concerned

Oh for gods sake, does it matter? Really?0

Campag still have five groupsets, the same number as Shimano. Their bottom end Veloce just starts higher up the food chain than Shimano, and the shifters are cheaper than the poverty spec Sora.
Not many bikes came kitted with Mirage or Xenon anyway, so I don't think it will make any difference.0 -

yes, of course it does. We're cyclists; we all love stuff, right?I'm only concerned with looking concerned0 -
Can't see Linux running on a Mac though ?0

If you look at what Super Record actually is you'll see it's just what Record had been up till about 2005 before it was quietly dumbed down slightly without getting any cheaper.
The fact that Xenon and Mirage names have gone doesn't really mean a great deal as the Veloce name will take the place of the Mirage level. And Campag have dropped the Xenon level before oonly to bring it back a couple of years later.I'd rather walk than use Shimano0 -
Anyone seen any good sale deals on the dropped groupsets?
The "winter" bike needs some fettling, think I'll take it out today, its pissing down here, where are my arm bands?0
