OK, your 2 hardtails are XC race bikes really. Both are fast and light. Very steep head angles so scary when stuff gets really steep. Cannondale Prophet is an All Mountain bike 31lbs plus. Heavy for all day rides but great on descents. FSR XC is somewhere in between - more of a trail bike than anything else here.
What type of riding you wanting to do?I hate it when people say David Beckham's stupid...its not like anyone ever says: 'Stephen Hawking - he's s**t at football.' Paul Calf0 -
Thanks for that,
Its all all XC,trails and mud0 -
If its XC and lighter trails stick with one of the hardtails. Both are good bikes TBH. If you only ride for 1-2 hours especially then defo go for a hardtail.
2 hours plus go with the FSR. It'll be more comfortable and you'll be able to ride harder for longer.

Just what I was after, usually ride for 3-5 hours, so that FSR sounds good0

Does anyone know the rough weights of the dale and the fsr0

Dale is about 32 lbs IIRC, FSR a little bit less.
Test the bikes out?
£1000 quid can get nowadays a sub 24lbs hardtail - and that makes a BIG difference on longer rides over a 31lb full suss.0 -
How about this?
It is a Brodie Mettle, http://www.progressive-bikes.co.uk/mettle.html should be £1699 but they have an ex demo for sale for £1099! Bike weight is 28lb, 100mm front and rear and decent kit throughout. They only have the one ex demo bike, so if it fits and you like, be quick.0 -
iirc, the dale is actually a tiny bit lighter then the fsr (hard to beleive i know), if i was you i would get the prophet, might as well get as much travel as you can for your money (without going beserk) also, the prophet was a 10/10 bike in a recent review.0
