I have a question, my has an old Nola NR-1 shock on the rear atm, i bought a fox shox float r for it, of course my old k2 does not have the same size fittings as the fox came with and looking on the mojo website its £20 easy to order them, however..

I do have experience of using a lathe and have a suitable piece of brass i could make the bushings from, having measured them up with a caliper i fancy trying to save myself some money by knocking out a set, any opinions on whether this is crazy or not. My colleague thinks that brass should be just fine and that the bolt is the part that feels most of the stress, he does have a lot more experience than i do with mechanical engineering but i'd appreciate some other opinions from you guys :D

make the reducers out of aluminum.

    brass is too soft.

Is it worth writing off your new shock?

I'd be worried about the softness of brass, although the selflubrication would be cool...

not needed as the DU bush in the shock does that.

To save hassle measure up your old ones and give betd a call their bush works great.

I have a pair of their strong bushes and what they call a bag of hula hoops.

The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

just for a couple of rides tho maybe the brass might be ok? i'm not sure machining al is as easy or indeed if i have some also, could do with it to ride some xc in cwm carn at w/e as my new hard tail still hasn't turned up . Am i right in thinking that an air shock will be easier to ride uphill than a spring :?:

both as easy or as bad as each other is set up correctly. Personally i would get the right kit.

theres not much adjustment on my spring tho, just a nut to tighten it and its wound right up anyway, just have to push harder i guess.

no the right fitting kit. the bushings should already be in the shock.
