Can cycling cause wrist pain?
I have been troubled recently with right wrist pain after cycling, particularly on bending the wrist forward. I have no significant pain whilst cycling. I have switced from a Kona Jake cyclocross bike to a Felt Z35 road bike recently and spend more time on the drops. I cycle an average of 100 miles per week and have done so for some time. I know that position can cause back and knee pain (neither of which trouble me) but can it cause wrist problems? If so any obvious solution?
Thanks for any advice.

Short answer, Yes!
Long answer, yes but it can be tricky to find out what you need to change... Could be the angle of your bars, the length of your stem, lay back of your post....
Obvious solution is to change thimgs, a little bit at a time and one thing at once.... Borrow stems off mates and try them etc.0 -
Thanks I'll try that.
I hate to admit that I'm also a doctor but as a Consultant Haematologist have little idea when it comes to musculoskeletal problems. I could have asked my wife who is a GP but she would have definitely told me that its because I'm out on my bike too often and I should spend more time at home helping out with the kids!

how are you holding the drops, is it through a straight wrist or slightly bent0

Thanks for the tips. I tend to hold with a straight wrist. I moved the bars forward a little tonight to a position as close as that on my other bike that didnt cause pain (I know this now seems very obvious but it wasnt necessarily going to work as the geometries of the 2 bikes are so different) and am pleased to say that my wrist fells much better. The fantastic bonus is that with the new position it also knocked 1 min 30 secs off my PB for my 10 mile loop!
Thanks again!
