My Nokian Gazzaloddi Dual has got a split in the side so i am after a new rear tyre. Ideally i want something with strong side walls that's not going to give me pinch flats if i catch the tyre on the edge of a wall that the main thing i want but i do also want good grip, don't want to be sliding about all over the place, here's the problem all the tyres i have looked at that offer what i want are 2.3 and up but looking at the frame i very much doubt i can fit anything bigger than a 2.1. Any tyre suggestions ??

continental mountain kings -protection with black chilli compound are the best- come in 2.2 but come out quite small. Wiggle do the best deals on them-about £32 so not cheap but worth the money!!

Panaracer Smoke (rear only) - retro but effective. Panaracer Fire XC are a good fast rear tyre. Maxxis Higher Rollers come in 2.1 and are a go anywhere do anything tyre - OK front and rear.

I always found folders a bit on the weak side personally, so anything rigid would be a start.

Get them from www.velokit.co.uk - cheaper and VERY good service.

Recently got these tyres (2.2 comes out more like 2.0/2.1) and they are superb :D

Panaracer Fire XC is one i wont get as i had one on the rear and though a good tyre the side walls was too soft, i got loads of pinch flats especially if the wheel catchs the edge of a wall. The frame is a ddg shooter andI run my tyre's at around 40psi if that helps.

Was looking at the Halo Knobbler 2.2 but that should fit as a guess as a user review on crc mentioned they came out a little smaller although the description says "Lightweight Black skinwall"

What about some of the DH and Freeride tyres that are 2.35, any of them come up small ?

Seems nearly all tyres i'm looking at with stiff sidewalls for running lower pressure are all bigger than 2.1 and all the tyres that will fit are XC tyres and are made lighter.

@passout, i'm guessing your talking about the XC high rollers.
