Its supposed to be freakin summer and its still blowin like a demon where i live. :x Was out today and no matter which direction i cycled in, it was still bl00dy windy !! I just wish the wind would clear off for a while and let us enjoy continental cycling conditions for a change.

Whats it like in your neck of the woods, you cursing at the wind too ?

I was in weymouth, dorset last week, had to check my calendar to see if it was february already.................damned cursed uk weather  :x

I remember being at a race some years back and hearing one racer complain to
another about the strong winds. His reply? "Get over it, same wind for everybody".
I know this doesn't help but what else can you do? :?

Unfortunately/fortunately different people are affected differently by the wind, I'm small but can generate plenty of power and don't get affect too much by the wind - my nephew on the other hand, a bit taller than me and can't generate the same power struggles far more than me.

Maintain your cadence at 80-85rpm and tell yourself: "The wind is my friend, the wind is my friend..." and pray that it's to your back going home 8)

    Hi there.

Tailwind all the way home tonight!

    Glasgow-Stirling, 28 miles, 1 hour 7 minutes. I'm claiming it as a world record!

Yeh--- just had two weeks (on tandem) on Hebrides and Skye ---of which 6 days of strong to gale force winds, tailwinds, headwinds, crosswinds, after a bit it rather spoiled it---when you`ve got to pedal a tandem downhill you`ve got a headiwnd!!! Go away wind, please, for a bit :D

Funny, when I was dinghy racing we seemed to spend a lot of time drifting about trying to coax a bit of speed out of the boat in almost zero wind. Now I'm a cyclist and RC model flyer and prefer gentler conditions it's always windy.

As Dennis says it's the same wind for everyone in a race but I'm not racing; I just want to ride my bike/fly my planes without either the wind noise in my ears or having to tie everything down at the airfield.

Don't think it's necessarily any better over the Channel. It wasn't too good for the 4 weeks we were there in May/June and it wasn't all that good the day Cav got his second win was it?

Don't tell anyone, but I only rode 10 of those miles on the way in this morning... I'd slept in, so I caught the train the rest of the way, and just made it to work by 9am...
