What Bike: a good idea from the MTB forum

I've been having a look at the MTB forum and saw this excellent thread for all those 'what bike' questions:

Don't you think we should do something similar here? Any volunteers? I would, but don't feel I have enough knowledge of the full range of road bikes. I can off load what I learnt when choosing my entry level bike a few months back. Perhaps I can compile something based on your views. Or, if someone has a broad knowledge of a wide range of bikes, perhaps they can jump in..?

does sound like a good idea and shouldnt be too difficult since most of the information should already be available on the forum, the same bikes seem to be mentioned over and over
ie. at around £400 the giant scr/ spec allez bikes get mentioned alot and at around £1000 the concensus seems to be focus cayo / planet x
maybe some of the people who are very quick to tell the new guys off for asking questions instead of using the search button could contribute0 -
This is a good idea until people disagree with the options,
from looking at that link my question is where are the "Cube" bikes ???????? etc0 -
Thanks you two. Given the lack of volunteers to compile a list, I've done a basic starting list - it's available at http://www.bikeradar.com/beginners/foru ... t=12577960
Feel free to chip in with your views!0
