Thought I would break up the doping threads with one that actually talks about the excellent RACING so far in the tour.

For my money Kohl is putting in the ride of his life, and really pleased to see him up there

There have been less doping threads on here in the past two weeks than there have for about 5years!

I went for Ricco, but probably would have picked Kirchen if he was there.

Wim VanSevenant - going for an unprecedented third consecutive Laterne Rouge.

I'm sure I saw him 'attack' off the back of the peloton on one of the early stages

Ugh! I've just seen the results. Yet we accuse the US of being biased towards Lance, Floyd, Tyler etc.
I done my fair share of US bashing, but, so far, the man of the match, for me, must be Christian VdV.
No team support in the mountains, but still holding onto the big boys and in a podium spot.
Not the flashy genius of Ricco, or the explosive pace of Cav, but dogged determination.
After, don't forget, wearing Giro pink.

Have to admit Vandvelde has ridden very impressively. I think he was lucky they slowed towards the end of the stage yesterday coz he lost contact but fought back which was great for him. BUT i have to go with Kirchen so far. He's been up there in most stages, sprints an'all and was even in the train for cav in his yellow and green jerseys. Plus as with VV he's had no team mates in the mountains...

Is it age, or is it the lack of Disco biscuits thats seen Hincapie at the back on mountains nowadays?

+1 here similar reasons. Plus he has shown such a huge improvement this year.

He scores -200 for style on the bike - he looked like some sort of gurning hunchback yesterday - mind you, he was climbing quick enough

    I'd have to say Ricco.

He says up front he'd win Super Besse and then did. And his attack a couple of days ago was the kind of thing that makes people interested in cycling.

I'd still biff him on the nose though.
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.
  • Ricco also predicted that Piepoli would win on Hautacam....now THAT was impressive...

Ricco definitely. I don't see how you can choose anyone else. No one else has had two such impressive stage wins this year. It's been pretty damn impressive.

    F. Schleck - I enjoy his attacks he's only one second out of yellow - with Sastre and his brother and the rest of the cast to support him - he's answered the question of who the leader is on his team.

Evans has got a few votes but no-one is commenting and therefore commiting themselves to him because everyone here will be right into them.

    Efimkin for me.

Ok Ricco's rides are impressive and I enjoyed them but to me they seem a little too superhuman, akin to some very impressive performances in the last few tours by riders that were booted from the tour.

For me Evans' os the rider so far, he has bugger all support from his team, and to be placed where he is after the Pyranees, shows the class and intelligence of the man. He has very few bullets to spare, and is riding the best tactical tour I have seen in a long time.

    YMMV
