Cham' Cream for Assos / Cloth Inserts?

One of those fleeting thoughts has just occurred to me : how many of you still slap on ' Chamois Creme ' to your backside before a ride ?
I used to but I don't now . Except that is when I put on my older Assos shorts with the cream coloured faux chamois insert . I bought a pair of F1.13 shorts at the start of the year and they had a completely different insert . Clothlike and very comfy ,it must be said . It seemed to me that it would queer it if you spelched all the sloppy goo over it , and I didn 't . I never noticed the lack . That aside I donated 'em to a chum as they were too small for me . He was grateful for the gift , but every time I call round the shorts are on the washing line as he still lards on the the chammy cream which dries between times and chafes - he says - when he starts to ride again . Hence this query : does he really need to use the 'cream' using the present day insert ( - at least in the top end shorts ) ?

I have a pair of 'new' Assos bibs and use the cream.

I find it helps avoid chaffage on the legs and its antibacterial properties can only be a good thing when one considers the 'zones' the pad interfaces with...

I use it but I apply to chamois immediately before a ride, not immediately after a wash.

...thanks for the quick response .
Is the application to the newer , orange coloured , cloth insert , or to the cream coloured synthetic chamois ? caw35slr infers in his post that it's the older cham' insert .
I also bought a pair of 'new' bibs this year , but they have the older cham insert . I would use the cream with them . And do .

It is in my case. I apply more to my @rse and legs than I do the chamois though...

That's interesting . I should also have added that my use of cream is sporadic at best - if a century looms ahead and it occurs to me I'll smear it on , but , as often as not , I'll forget , and not miss it .
I should also have added to the previous post that the assos bibs arrived with a sachet of their 'Chamois Creme' clipped in with all the other printed guff that come with these things . But , as I said , they had the older insert .
