Chain slip help needed!

I've just built up my Stumpjumper FSR using bits from my old hardtail. Took it out for a first ride and it all works fine except that the chain slips whenever I'm pedalling and the rear suspension compresses. It doesn't happen on the flat and it does it in all combinations of front&rear chain ring so I guess it's not wear related.
Any ideas?

lean on the saddle and press down while watching the rear mech. does it move? if yes then the cable outer is either too short or poorly routed."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Thanks for the quick reply. Hadn't considered that the problem could lie with the cable routing. Just to confirm, should the piece of outer cable which guides the cable across the bottom bracket be fairly tight to the frame and not allow any movement when the suspension activates?0
