Interesting about the French rider who had to take a few weeks off earlier in the season. Isn't that the one that was supposed to be Clement L'Hotellerie?

But if it is someone who's already abandoned the Tour, then that would narrow it down to:

John Gadret / Christophe Moreau / Lilian Jegou / Aurelien Passeron / Herve Duclos Lassale

I heard from a different source that Cancellara was on the list. But still only rumours.

Of those who have abandoned the race, Jegou, Passeron and D-L have abandoned after crashes and broken bones. Moreau left because of a "sore back" which makes raises my eyebrows. I don't know why Gadret left.

Gadret was sick all week and hanging off the back of the group from the first second cat climb on Thursday until he jumped off midway through Friday's stage.

Come on Kleber, its not like Moreau has any previous.

I had thought that the consensus was that Moreau, along with most of the French riders, have had little choice but to race clean after the French Cycling Federation introduced longitudinal testing after the Festina scandal, not to mention the fact that doping became a criminal offence in France. The professional grapevine seemed to hold such an opinion too. Remember that instant messenger text produced at the SCA hearings?

VAUGHTERS: Anyhow, I can never quite figure out why I don't just play along with the Lance crowd. I mean sh-it it would make my life easier, Eh? It's not like I never played with hotsauce. Eh? ...

VAUGHTERS: Once I went to CA and saw that now not all the teams get 25 injections every day, I felt really guilty. Hell, CA was ZERO.

ANDREAU: You mean all the riders?

    VAUGHTERS: Credit Agricole

    ANDREAU; It's crazy

VAUGHTERS: So, I realised Lance was full of sh-it when he'd said everyone was doing it.

ANDREAU: You may read stuff I say to radio or press, praising the Tour and Lance but it's just playing the game.

VAUGHTERS; Believe me, as crazy as it sounds- Moreau was on nothing. Hct of 39%

Yeah but Moreau was living in Switzerland so didn't have as much testing as other French riders.

Perhaps Lance is right and Vaughters & Andreau are talking complete gash?

Don`t think so somehow, especially given the huge amount of evidence around that Armstrong was a doper, and the lack of such evidence in relation to Moreau post Festina. On the subject of which, it`s good to see that the recording Lemond made of his talk with Stephanie McIlvain after the Armstrong camp had threatened to harm his business interests is in the public arena. (You know, the one where she confirms that she did hear Armstrong admit to using Epo, steroids and all the rest...).

  • P.s. From the original link...

According to the Journal du Dimanche, Riccò is one of a number of riders who have been "randomly tested" at least twice already in this race. That group apparently includes Frank Schleck, Fabian Cancellara, Oscar Pereiro, Alessandro Ballan and Damiano Cunego. The same newspaper reported this morning that a French rider was ordered to stop competing for several weeks earlier this year after the French Federation noticed anomalies in his quarterly blood tests. They even threw in a couple of clues: the rider in question has already abandoned the Tour and Agritubel strongly denies that it's Christophe Moreau.

Moreau may have been clean at CA, but who knows about AG2R. After all, they signed Mancebo. And with his Swiss residence, he's out of the reach of the French Federation's bio passport scheme.

I have it on good authority that Moreau was not clean last year.

And by all accounts those AG2R boys sure know how to party while on training camps. They bring the word stamina to new levels

Know an ex-pro who's friends with someone(current) within the team.

Someone else within the team fancies the sauce too. They'd "get up" in the classics if the rider got serious.

Tom B. would be alright on 1 of their training camps.Party till 5am,few hours sleep, then out for a 6 hour spin.

Although Switzerland has been slow to join in the anti-doping measures, the argument that Moreau lives or lived in Switzerland doesn't make him any more guilty than many others. Other current TdF riders who live in Switzerland and have Swiss licences include Cadel Evans, Markus Burghardt, Thor Hushovd and Oscar Freire.

Moreau also belongs to a team which signed the M.P.C.C. (Movement for Credible Cycling), which should mean it's not only inadvisable for any team or sponsor to promote or tolerate doping within the team (for their own image), but also very risky for any rider to take action on his own (if he wants to avoid termination without notice).
