Upgrading

Just a simple question thats probably been asked before!!

I have A GT Avalanche, are parts from another bike interchangeable? ie crankset, sealed headset ?

An acquaintance offered me some raceface bits for nothing and I was dubious in case they didnt fit?

Any hlp would be appreciated....

    yes and no.
    it all depends if they are the correct size.
