I wondered how long it would be before someone came up with this "innovation" again.

It will, of course, be "different", "improved" and "better overall" than the last time..

Yes, I noticed that, guess my old chainsets are back in fashion again. Bit of spit and polish and I'll get them onto ebay
next thing is we'll have solid cranks, and 36 spoke wheels. May be we'll have steel frames and triple chainsets with 8 speed blocks.
Eeh when I were a lad we 'ad rod brakes and they never wore out.

biopace chainrings last time round were just a gimick, this time they are serious.

I've been running rotor Q-rings for nearly a year, they do actually work, not tried the biopace though. I saw the Q-rings last year at Ironman UK on several of the Pro's bikes, and spoke to one of them about them, and bought some on there advice, normal chainrings are a thing of the past for me.

You mean "different", "improved" and "better overall". Have you considered a career in marketing?

Bobby Julich always used to use the Q rings on his TT bike. Been around for a while, some people like them, but still don't seem to have caught on in a big way.

    Hi there.

These are not Bio-pace. I think they Q rings are eliptical in the other way from Bio-pace.

If you see what I mean.

I have a early 90's bipace chainset somewhere on the depths of my loft, probably nestling next to the original Scott one-piece aero bars...

    Cheers, Andy

Ian Cammish pitted next to me once at a time trial and he had one of those chainsets with an angled crank that were supposed to get you over TDC more easily. I don't think he believed they worked either but he got them for nothing and the extra alloy was only slightly heavier than it needed to be.

I suspect non-circular chain rings come into the same category. You don't get owt for nowt I'm afraid. Although perhaps they may help a bit if you're a very low cadence pedaller.

Old cyclists never die; they just fit smaller chainrings ... and pedal faster
