Ladies road bike £1500

One of the ladies in our cycling club asked me to recommend a good road bike. She presently rides a ladies Giant with 32-42-52/12-27 and 26" wheels (I think). I suggested 700c wheels, as she says that she needs higher gearing, but have no idea if a womans specific frame is a good idea? As she rides with mostly a mens group I suggested a gents frame with 700c wheels would not only give higher gearing but mean she could "borrow" a tube in emergency
Any recommendations?
Thanks.

I don't know much about women's bikes, but this looks like it should be on the shortlist

my solution is to find a bikeshop which will set you up on a jig and work something out that fits you - e. g. Paul Hewitt in North of england or see the latest cycling plus which had a list of uk bike builders who offer a fitting service,0

She's quite happy with her Giant, small, so could easily buy "off the peg" , just wondered what was a good buy.0
