Isis woes

I've lunched the 2nd Isis BB on my #2 road ride after just 3,000 miles. Not impressed. Doubly not impressed as I distinctly remember asking the bloke on the bike shop about the reputation of these things when I was buying his OEM chainset.

Other than upgrading to a Chorus chainset and Campag BB as they are now being sold cheap, what are my options? Is there any Isis model that is worth trying?

have a look at the SKF ISIS bb as that is the only one that will last.

10 year warranty or something like that.

    normal ISIS are poor.

I went through a right palaver trying to source one of those SKF ISIS bottom brackets.

I swapped about 30 e-mails with a rep from SKF and almost got to the point of her sending me one for free just to shut me up.

Then she e-mailed to say PACE were now stocking them so I e-mailed them and they do have some but they are about 79 quid.

In the end I bough a standard FSA one for 16 quid from a LBS. It might only last me for this summer but I can buy another 3 for the rest of the 79 quid.

One thing is certain, the FSA BB will out live the Stronglight Vulcan Carbon chainset which I bought it for. I've broken 3 in the last 2 years.

High On Bikes have 06 Chorus chainsets for £39.95. You can get the BB for about the same price from most places.

Mind you, from what I've read, I'm not sure that Chorus/Record BBs last that long either. Don't seem to be very highly rated on Roadbikereview.com.
