Bike choice????
This is my first road bike, but I have been a weekend racer in MTB at weekends for many years. I have a budget of £1500 and have narrowed my choices down to:
Wilier Mortirolo Veloce
Speciaized Tarmac Comp
Bianchi C2C 928 Veloce
I will be doing long weekend rides and possibly enter a few races next year.
Am I on the right tracks here and which do people think represents the best bang for the buck, so to speak!
Thanks,
Oli

At the end of the day, who ever advises you is not riding the bike, you are. YOu need to go to your LBS and try them all and then go for the one which is most comfortable. They are all very nice bikes, but you don't want to by the Bianchi for example becuase Bob recommends it as good value if after 40 miles your arms are numb and you neck feels like it is seized in place.
When you ride them you will know which one is best!
Good luck with the purchase."The grass is always greener on the other side - unless Jens Voigt has been riding on the other side in which case it's white with the salty, dried tears of all the riders whose souls he has crushed."0 -
OH,
Where abouts are you in the Country?

OH,
Coincidence, I am in Redditch so not too far away.
Personally, I didn't find Red Kite particularly helpful. Although they are one of the nearest proper LBS's to me. (That is just my opinion mind :? )
I would strongly recommend a trip over to Fred Williams Cycles in Wolverhampton. They were absolutely fantastic with me. I had my Bianchi 928 C2C from them. They also stock Wilier and Specialized - although with the Spesh I don't think it is one of their mainstream brands. They also have lots of other "Bike Porn" to look at and tempt you
If you were seriously looking at Specialised, then I would take a trip to Mike Vaughan Cycles in Kenilworth. They stock a very good range, and like Fred W's, will let you test ride the bikes. They also stock Treks.
Another place to consider, if you don't mind travelling a bit farther afield, is Epic Cycles near Tenbury Wells. Stuck out in the middle of nowhere, but consequently doesn't get busy, so you will get their undivided attention They have Wilier and have just started to do Bianchis. They also stock Orbeas which are worth consideration.
I am fortunate that with my job I travel around a lot and consequently got the opportunity to speak with LOTS of LBS's when I was looking for my new bike. Those that I have mentioned were all very good and I would recommend - particularly Fred Williams.
Hope this helps.

Gary I really appreciate your considered response. I will be taking a trip to Fred Williams and maybe Mike Vaughan too this week.
Thanks again,
