Hi, I have a Santa Cruz Heckler with a rear swingarm thats only compatible for v-brake. Does anyone know if I can convert it to disc brake or if not whether I can buy a different swingarm from Santa Cruz. Thanks for looking, any help or advice is much appreciated.

My friend is in a similar situation with his GT Avalanche.

    We've managed to find this:

But i'm not sure how good they are

Thanx for the link Sikora, looks good but not sure whether there will be enough clearance to accomadate the actual disc. Has your mate tried one yet?

Stif are associated with the santa cruz importers and they have a few things that may do what you want.

use google or look at the avert in the mags.

looks like a lot of excess metal (and weight) over an a2z adaptor

I've got one on my cherished old HT and it works really well. I had to fit an extra spacer on the disc side of the hub axle and dish the wheel to get the clearance, but it was easy to do.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

Just looked up the a2z adaptor. Any problems with them?
  • my A2Z lasted me 4 good years of use before i swapped frames to the current one, had no issues at all from it! infact, after fitting it i didnt touch it again!
only minor down side is that you have to remove the end of your skewer to get the wheel off, but thats not to much graft hey!
