More Juicy bleading problems

I'm really going off Avid brakes! I am trying to blead my front Juicy 5 but it won't let me blead the hose, i.e. pump the fluid from the caliper syringe up to the lever stringe. I have followed the instructions to the letter, the only thing i did that wasn't in the instructions was wound the reach adjuster all the way in, in fact too far because i had to take the lever blade off and clean all the threads to get the reach adjuster to screw back on again. Anyone know what is causing this? Could it be a blockage in the hose? The brake works fine otherwise, just a little long in the stoke compared to the successfully bled rear brake.

Cheers,

Andy.

    still got air in there.

just pumping fluid back and forth gets it out.

Or you just need to wait for the pads to settle in again.

Or the disc is being moved by the pads. align the calliper again.

Thats the thing, i can't blead it properly. I bled the caliper ok, then tried to pump the fluid from the caliper syringe to the lever syringe (after releasing the lever) and the caliper one won't budge at all. No fluid is going up to the lever, it's as if the hose is kinked. The hose is slightly too long anyway and needs shortening, so maybe i'll disconnect it from the lever and try pumping the fluid through. If that works, what could be causing a blockage in the lever body?

Have you tried just pulling on the empty syringe whilst pushing fluid through with the other, sometimes the syringe can stick if it hasn't been used for a while, this can prevent you bleeding the hose.

Also have you un-locked the empty syringe first before you try and push fluid through?

Simple thing I know but I've forgot a few times

Yeah tried all that, but the caliper syringe is still solid, won't push any fluid. I am riding today so i'll try pushing fluid through with the hose disconnected from the lever later.

so both clamps are undone/not kinked?

Was there enough fluid in the caliper syringe when you started, (not sure if the instructions say a half or quarter full?)

is there any blockage in the syringes or tubing, all screwed together connected ok?

Yep both clamps were undone and no kinks, and the caliper syringe was over half full as i am upgrading the fluid to dot 5.1 as well. Syringes arn't blocked either, and i even tried pulling fluid through from the lever and pushing the caliper one at the same time, but still no joy. I still haven't stripped it all down yet as i have not long got back from riding, and i am fooked. Might give it a go later.

Try pushing fluid from the lever end down to the caliper. Whatever's blocking the hose may be dislodged and find it's way into the caliper syringe if you're lucky.
Also try depressing the lever slightly while pushing fluid through the system. The lever piston assembly may be covering the port through to the MC res if you've pulled on it while trying to sort the reach adjuster problem.(not very likely, but worth a try)
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

Thanks for all the advice guy's, but i got it sorted in the end. I think i might have wound the reach adjuster in too far, at least i am assuming that was the problem because this time i only wound it in about 2 turns from normal riding possition and it worked first time :D

    Cheers,

    Andy.
