My wheels are starting to make some worrying noises that make me think the bearings are on their way out.

Does anyone know what the deal is with replacing them? I assume as sealed units they are not repairable / servicable.

    have you adjusted them?

as the hub bearings should be adjustable.

Sealed cartridge bearings including a specific high precision adjustment ring. Precisely adjusted to the hub, they participate to the lateral rigidity due to an optimized positionning,

_Sealed Cartridge Bearings require no specific maintenance and are interchangeable
_SCB produce low friction and maximum rolling fluidity
_Fast, easy and very precise micro adjustment of the hub play with the special tool (M40123) supplied with the wheels

I did my Elites last year.

Take the sealed units out. Take them to a Engineers bearing suppliers, find one in yellow pages, and buy some new ones.

(They are about 5 times more expensive buying them from a bike shop)

    Brilliant link!
It's all there how to do it. Dead easy and you don't need the bearing pullers like it says on the diagram.

I found it in one of the free catalogues that came with the C+ mag (RJ Chicken I think). I don't have Mavic wheels myself but it is such a useful bit of info for those that do.

While we are on the subject, i was going to get a pair for my 'best' racing wheels.
Seem to get a good write up and just within my price range.
    Any advice?
