I think that the perceived problem with Orange is that whilst they are great bikes, because the monocoque models have the frames built in the UK, they are pricey so the complete bikes end up being significantly more expensive than say a Specialized, Marin or Giant in the same bracket. This has always been my gripe with Orange.

I'll be absolutely honest and say that my purchase was probably about 75% influenced by the fact that there was such a big chunk knocked off the price (20% discount more or less). If I'd have had to have paid full whack, I'd have looked elsewhere.

    dave,

just ordered from them today. got a little discount on the bike and more than anywhere else was offereing or rather offered and a phone call to orange revelaed up to a 15% increase (not much of a suprise really) on 09 prices. hopefully the bike will arrive on tuesday. :D

its in black though. not my first choice but like i said it was the best deal i could get. i'm presuming they have taken the colour from the 's' and/or the 'one' and just upgraded the relevant parts? anyone have any ideas?

any recommendation on a new computer?

Nice one Dave, Oranges are lovely bikes. I picked up a 5 this week to go with my Evo. It's undoubtedly faster, but I'm not sure if it's more fun.

  • that's a nice bike.

I got mine from Sunset MTB aswell, but I couldn't afford a 'proper' orange so I got this instead

It's the best bike i've ever had! but i'm looking forward to upgrading the forks, brakes and gears.. Can't get used to the SRAM shifters..

Stick with the juicy brakes mate, you will get used to them, they don't have the initial bike but as much power just more controlable, have ridden with both types.
Once you get a feel the hayes will just feel wooden in comparison
