Vittoria Pit Stop - does it work?

Thinking about getting my first set of tubs. I am concerned about p*******s, and fixing them on the road. I have seen a few people carrying just a can of Vittoria Pit Stop sealant, with no spare tyre or pump. I thought this was a neat solution - until I heard a rumour that the sealant does not always work. Any experiences?

Pit Stop is fine on normal punctures or cuts up to about 4mm in my experience. I've used it to successfully hold a 5mm cut airtight enough to get me home. I'd recommend a CO2 or pump as well and if you're really in the wilds take a spare tub just in case.

If you have a big cut it's important to put your thumb over the hole when you put the pitstop in to stop latex and gas escaping, other than that it's pretty straightforward.

Worked for me. Would still carry spare & pump if venturing far from home. Real advantage is time/tube changing hassle/convenience.
Goes down a bit over the next 24hrs or so as the gas (butane?) escapes through the rubber, but once repumped up repair seems permanent (if 3 months is permanent that is!).
